Internet Explorer has stopped working

I installed Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 and everytime I ran IE7 then started navigating through pages it would crash. Not every page would cause the crash but the pages that did crashed it every time.

It was a fresh install. No addons, no virus scan installed, no programs installed. I tried it before installing the drivers Vista could not identify (video and sound) and I tried it after installing the drivers so there were no unknowns in Device Manager. Either way the same result. I clicked the reset button on the advanced tab but that didn't resolve the problem. I installed Flash but that didn't resolve it. I modified the IE security settings, I turned off Protected mode, I turned off pop up blocker, all of these things did not stop IE7 from crashing with that error.

I installed Vista Home Premium x64 SP1 and have not seen this problem once.

My PC is an AMD dual core x64 proc, ATI Radeon card, the board has an ATI chipset, the SB600. I have 4 gigs of RAM. I don't know if any of that makes a differnece.

Anyone else have this problem and were able to resolve it?
Anyone have ideas as to what's causing it or have any questions for me?

Thanks,
John
