Please Help.

Ive built a few systems in the past but am brand new to the Vista scene. My most recent build:

Vista Home Premium x64
EVGA 780i SLI mobo
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz Wolfdale
Patriot DDR2 800 Viper 4GB (2x2GB)
Corsair 1K Modular Power Supply
Western Digital 300GB SATA 3.0GB/s Velociraptor
(Recycled from Old Build)
XFX 8800GT Alpha Dog Edition (Core clock 640MHz)
D-Link DWA 552 Extreme N Wireless Card (Internal)
Z-Board Stealth Keyboard
Razer Lachesis Lazer Mouse
20.1in Samsung Monitor

My delimma as of right now is w/ the Wireless Card and Vista (I guess).
I downloaded the x64 drivers for the card, the mobo, and the Video Card - All installed fine.

The wireless card installed fine but when I connect to any network (not just my own) Vista Locks up completely. The card finds the networks ok but locks when a connection is attempted. The router I use is also D-Link Extreme N. One time I did get IE to open and display a web page before Vista locked. I am stumped as to how to remedy this. As I said I am new to Vista (and x64).

Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

Hi Bigdaddy and welcome to the Vista forums!

Well, this wireless card has apparentely a problem with 64 bit drivers.
Where from did you get the drivers, i've been told that the only working drivers were those "proposed" by Windows Update.

Got the drivers from the product's site which says on the site

Quote:
7.3.1.42- Driver for Vista 64. Please note that this is the same driver available on the Windows Vista x64 Service pack 1.

Yet it still locks up. I have contacted them on this but have not heard anything back yet. Thank you for posting back a response. Any further advice would be helpful. Thanks.

I have exactly the same problem with this card on a HP Pavilion a6500f with x64. I found a later dated driver on the D-Link site listed as July 2008 update including drivers for Vista 32 and 64 but havn't had a chance to try since son has machine away at college :-)

I spend some time with this card. works fine with 32 and not - in my case - with 64.
it went back to where it came from.
plug n play?? yeah right

getting back on that card.

i had to install one a day ago because that cust. allready had it.replacement for a linksys.
deinstalled all the linksys stuff changed card and vista did not see the d-link.
ran ccleaner and checked manually for ev. old drivers that may or may not could conflict with d-link.
nothing.
just for the fun of it, i put the card in another slot and gave it a shot.
came up right away and works like a charm. fast and all.
