| Vista Home Premium | Losing internet connection - repeatable Starting my machine yields complete internet access. When I put it in a low-power state (Start | icon left of lock) and then revive with mouse movement, I have lost internet access (double monitor icon in system tray reports "Access: local only". No internet dependent program (email, browser, etc) functions. I then have to go to Network Sharing Center | Diagnose and Repair to find that the Network Adapter is "Local Area connected" and must be reset. That resetting does restore internet access as demonstrated by full function of the programs and icon in system tray now reporting "Access: Local and Internet". How do I fix this? I much prefer putting the machine in low-power state during brief departures from the computer. Turning off and rebooting is a time consuming process. Vista is Home Premium. Box is Gateway GM5478 Last edited by KenVISTA; 07-06-2008 at 07:56 PM.. Reason: I forgot some important stuff. |

| Ultimate SP1 x64 & x86 | Re: Losing internet connection - repeatable Well, could come from the drivers of your network controller. Which Vista do you use? (X86 or X64) Network controller? Drivers version? |

| Vista Home Premium | Re: Losing internet connection - repeatable Thanks Sid, sorry to be slow getting back to this. I don't know where to find reference to X86 or X64. I'm pretty sure this is a 32 bit VISTA installation which I guess means it is X86. The Network and Sharing Center reveals an Intel Media Server model 1.7.217 with IP address 127.0.0.1. There are no controls or other information. Device Manager reveals just one Network Adapter. It is: Intel 82562V - 210/100 Network connection Driver is Intel 4/13/2007 Version 9.8.20.0 There is no check on the "Allow computer to turn off..." control. | Vista Home Premium | Re: Losing internet connection - repeatable Problem is solved. In the Power management setting of the network controller: "Allow windows to turn this off to save power" needs to be ENABLED with a tick rather than having no tick. Thanks all for your attention |
