Slow Netwrok Access

Hi all,

I am using pair of Intel E5410 quad core processor with chipset Intel 5400 with on board network card (Broadcom Net Xtreme 57 Gigabyte controller). OS Vista Ultimate on x64. While I access network it is very slow. Can anybody help to resolve this problem.

What exactly is "slow" with your networking? File Transfers? Browsing the Network?

Microsoft has acknowledged that Windows Vista is slower in the networking department, this has something to do with the way Vista looks for and uses network resources. It's supposed to work like that though, and Microsoft is working on speeding it up.

I have SP1 installed of course. You could also run a speed test to see if its network traffic that is slow or something in the environment. Is this a personal home network or one in a business environment?

Copying and moving files over network is very slow. If I do same operation with XP it is very fast. So it is not network traffic issue. I installed SP1 and tried still same result.

OK, we need more *detailed* info - just saying something is slow or normal does not help.

Please post back detailed info, including system specifications and versions of Vista being used, network topology, and if possible, ipconfig /all settings.
