| Vista Ultimate X64 | Vista X64: IE64 works, IE32 does not I was running a wireless network card on my computer (PCI Netgear). All was well. I removed that card and switched to my motherboard's on-board Gigabyte-equipped Ethernet port. Now my Internet Explorer 32 bit does not work, but the 64 bit version works fine. This has also caused Outlook Ultimate to quit working as well as MSN messenger. I am also getting a "Watson Client" error message and my Trillian does not work either. I am trying an "upgrade" install of Vista over top of my current install to see if something in Vista got corrupted. Yes, I un-installed SP1 first. Before I did that, I also made sure I had the latest drivers for my Reatek ethernet port. Tried safe mode - no luck there. Bypassed my router straight to the cable modem - no luck there either, so it is not my router. Any ideas? HAs anyone seen this before? Setup: Gigabyle GA-P35-DQ6 motherboard (V1.1) Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 CPU GeForce 8800GT videocard (512) 4 GB RAM (GSkill) |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Vista X64: IE64 works, IE32 does not Hi Dimora, an welcome to Vista Forums. This may be caused by a bad IE7 add-on since the 64 bit version works and the 32 bit one does not. This tutorial will show you how to check and fix this if this is the case. Internet Explorer - Reset Hope this helps, Shawn |

| VISTA ULTIMATE X64 SERVICE PACK 1 | Re: Vista X64: IE64 works, IE32 does not ok, i am not expert, but you can try to use from the command prompt sfc /scannow, and btw, you unistall the drivers from the card that you unplugged? the best will be unistall those drivers, and reinstall the drivers of the on-board ethernet card, you could try that before do a new full installation if you desire. |

| Vista x64 Ultimate | Re: Vista X64: IE64 works, IE32 does not What is in the event viewer? Try clearing the event viewer by right clicking on each category and clearing it. Then, restart. It will only show the restart errors. What is in the device manager. Did you clear the temporary files? What errors come up when you use it? Google repairing tcp/ip stack. |

My TCP/IP stack was corrupted. A quick google of what you suggested led me here: TCP/IP stack Winsock settings in Windows Vista may get corrupted, causing errors and problems with Internet connectivity. Corrupt Winsock or Windows sockets configuration can be due to a lot of reasons such as installation of a networking software, or due to virus, trojan or malware infection, or sometime even due to disinfection of spyware by security software. When Winsock corrupts, the networking errors that you may face include unable to surf the Internet with “Page cannot be displayed” error message in Internet Explorer or AOL even though the DSL/ADSL/cable Internet connection is connected. Sometimes, Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service is terminated as well. To repair and reset the Windows Vista
