| Vista Business 32bit | multiple wireless network of the same name I connect my laptop (Thinkpad X60S on Vista Business) to a WRT54G linksys wireless router and let's say my SSID is HOME. My problem is this: When I try to connect Vista sees 3 and sometimes 4 networks of the same SSID, e.g. HOME, HOME (2), HOME (3) and HOME (4). It is the same network. Why is this happening and how do I solve it? Thanks. |

| Vista™ Ultimate x64 | Re: multiple wireless network of the same name There is a way to merge all of those into one network. Just go to Network Center and it will say somewhere that you can merge them, don't exactly know where. Did you already install the latest firmware? (7.0.0.4) Check your Device Manager in the Networks area, maybe there's a problem. And try to disable your network adapter and then re-enable it. Try to restore your WRT54G to factory defaults if everything else fails. |

| Vista Business 32bit | Re: multiple wireless network of the same name Thanks for the reply, I know about the merge and I've used that. What irks me is that I have to do it again and again and again. Why does Vista sees multiple wireless networks when there is only ONE? There is a way to merge all of those into one network. | Vista Business 32bit | Re: multiple wireless network of the same name This is cool. It's like being a detective and searching for clues. Thanks for lead Sid. Unfortunately, I did not find any ghosts. There was only 1 item per network. Will search for more solutions. |

| Vista Ultimate x64 MAK, OpenSolaris 5, Gentoo 2008.1.... | Re: multiple wireless network of the same name You do have an export function built into the registry editor - you can export each individual key you want to deleted, or else export the parent key , and then try deleting them - if your wireless connection gets hosed, you can immediately import that file you exported, reboot, and things will be back to normal. |

| Vista Business 32bit | Re: multiple wireless network of the same name I just went ahead and delete all the keys under the following: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList\Nla\Wireless] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList\Nla\Cache\Intranet] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList\Profiles] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList\Signatures\Unmanaged] it seems to have solved the problem. thanks a lot You do have an export function built into the registry editor - you can export each individual key you want to deleted, or else export the parent key , and then try deleting them - if your wireless connection gets hosed, you can immediately import that file you exported, reboot, and things will be back to normal. |
