Ethernet Cable Connection Super Slow

Hi,

I've been going crazy getting my Dell Inspiron 530 Desktop Vista 64 bit to work with the internet. I tried multiple wireless cards but they only gave a speed of 1,000 kbps. So I tested an ethernet cable and it showed a speed of about 3,500kbps. I kept testing different wireless cards and then testing the ethernet cable to compare speeds. After a few cards I decided to just get a 50 foot ethernet cable and be done with it.

I inserted the cable today and got a speed over 3,000 kbps I then uninstalled the wireless card and then took out the wireless card hardware. When I turned the comp back on it was telling me to click ok to find an ethernet driver or something. I did but it could not find anything. So even though the ethernet card worked fine before now it is super super slow where I can't even use it.

Does anyone have suggestions what to do. Do I need an ethernet driver...where can I find it? Below are my specs. Thanks for any help!

Dell Inspiron 530 Desktop
Linksys WRT54G Router (Wireless-G Broadband Router)
Intel 82562V-210/100 Network Connection

Windows Vista Home Premium
Service Pack 1
Intel Pentium Dual CPU E2180 2.00 GHZ
4.00 GB RAM
64 bit operating system
GeForce 8800 GT Graphics Card
Norton Internet Security

My Computer

I just went through Device Manager >Network Adapters> Intel 82562V-2 10/100 and clicked on the driver tab. I clicked update drivers and it said I had the most up to date drivers.

Driver Date: 1/14/2008
Driver Version: 9.12.16.0

So it doesn't seem like an ethernet driver issue.

Hi, iceman33, and welcome to the forums.

Did you remove the wireless drivers / wireless device in device manager *before* removing the wireless card?
