Web page thumbs in Vista

Why can't I see thumbnails of saved Web pages (".MHT" in my case) in Vista as I can in XP ?

Screenie of webpages in XP

Same page in Vista:-

I have been at this for weeks and have followed all the advice available, to no avail. Is this impossible to do and if so does anybody know why Microsoft has taken this huge backward step? I've been reduced to booting into XP, taking a screenshot and then using this jpeg in Vista to see what is in each web page. As it is now I have to open each page first to see what it is. In the case of the example I've given here, an SLR camera review, it isn't too bad as each page has been given a decent description by the reviewer, but I have thousands of saved pages that are simply numbered, "1,2,3,4, 5, 5 "etc. The one thumbnail visible in the Vista screenie is a JPG. They still show up O.K in Vista, as do any mpgs or AVIs etc, so it isn't a matter of my not having setup things incorrectly
Thank You.
Fred

I am not sure if it works....

Re: Web page thumbs in Vista

Thanks, S, but that info is incorrect as my two screenshots prove. The respondent in the link is complaining that IE7 is the culprit in XP , but I still get thumbs of web pages in XP, it's only in Vista 64 bit that I am running that I can't do it. I've also tried it on a friend's Vista 32 bit setup and the Thumbs are missing there too. I'll reboot into XP and check that it is running IE7 and not IE6. It is XP SP3 though, so I assume that it is IE7. Either way, there must be a reason why Microsoft have removed this basic accessory.
Thanks.

Re: Web page thumbs in Vista

That's not the reason, S. Just checked my XP SP3 install and it's definitely running IE7. I get thumbs of all my thousands of saved Web pages, whether as ".mht" or "html", so the problem is definitely Vista specific. I did in fact come across this site and the advice therein, a couple of weeks ago when I started this search. I was recommended back here by a friend who is a genius in the UK Flight Sim arena, who was / is convinced that I will find the fix here. I have a workaround which is to take a screenie of the page I need in XP and save it in the relative folder as a JPG, but that is crazy when I've switched to Vista. I only kept XP, as Vista and / or Hewlett Packard can't / won't supply drivers for my two photographic scanners, so I boot into XP when I have any scanning to do, but it's crazy to have to do it each time I want to see which of my saved web pages is the one I need. To give them all a descriptive name would take weeks.
Even if there's not a fix, there must be a reason why Vista has deleted this option, if that is in fact the case.
