Intermittent connection/sporadic packet loss

Could someone tell if there are settings in Vista SP1 that would affect sporadic severe packet loss or intermittent connection? I am trying to troubleshoot my internet connection.

So far, Comcast has put in new cable lines/splitters in my house, new termination at the pole and a new modem. Problem still persists.

What I have done on my end before Comcast got involved:

1. Update chipset drivers
2. Tried new NIC
3. Upgrade/downgrade firmware on Router
4. Removed Router
5. Removed software firewalls and AV
6. Complete reinstall of Vista with slipstreamed SP1

Problem still persists.

Thanks for any help in advanced.

Never mind. Threw together an XP machine machine with spare parts to test my conncection. Still same problems as Vista. Definitely on Comcast's end.

Out of curiosity, did Comcast stick you with an AMBIT cable modem. I had this kind of trouble with an AMBIT cable modem, intermittant problems and random disconnects from the internet. I ripped the AMBIT cable modem out of place, bought a Motorola Surfboard 5101 cable modem, had that provisioned in to place in March, by my cable ISP and I haven't had no trouble since.

AMBIT is the worst brand of cable modem a cable company can stick you with, and by the way, Comcast was caught recently blocking P2P traffic, and the FCC is still trying to decide what kind of fine they're going to levey on Comcast.

Good, Motorola is a good brand of cable modem.
