Hi all, I searched and couldn't find a problem to this one.
While browsing my broadband connection is reliably disconnected if I type in an invalid webpage (i.e., if I type in abim.org as opposed to www.abim.org) or sometimes when trying to download a file such as the AVS file converter. If I open a different page I am prompted to connect to the internet which is quickly done but what is causing this- or more importantly, how do I fix it?

Hmm - it looks like your TCP stack might be corrupted as those same four files cannot be updated / fixed.
Have you run any online anti-malware (aka antivirus) scans? If not, Trend and Kaspersky both have good ones - I'd run both of those (not simultaneously, of course).

Thanks- I did some more online searching and found that something I dismissed as Windows gibberish was actually a clue. A window kept coming up with something regarding "wan miniport" which apparently was a clue. By deleting my default broadband program from internet connections the problem is gone.
Thanks for your efforts- I will still run the malware programs you recommended!
