Re: Dual boot/internet won't connect

Do you have drivers for your NIC installed?

Re: Dual boot/internet won't connect

1394 is not a NIC - that is Firewire.

Device Manager is how you tell if drivers are loaded or not.

Your last post is a bit confusing, so let's start over.

When you say you added XP Home as a dual boot to your rig, you *did* install it, and not just added a HD with XP pre-installed on it, right?

Re: Dual boot/internet won't connect

OK, so go into Device Manager and see how many different items you have under network adapters. If you only have that 1394, then you haven't installed XP drivers for your NIC.

whoa. nVidia firewall? That's a new one.

How about posting a screen shot of the error message...and which firewall are you installing?

Re: Dual boot/internet won't connect

Sorry John its well gone now.i just removed the drivers that enabled my internet connection and its still connected, wierd.I found out about nvidia firewall on google.Only thing is now, when i install the recomended driver for my 780sli it took about 20 mins to start, same in safe mode.So i had to re-install xp.Now i've just put in the drivers for my x-fi sound card and its done the same, its lucky there's not a hammer near this pc.Maybe its because i had to remove that nvidia driver?
