Intel Lan - x64 ultimate SP1 - Paquet Loss. (Tyan 5400xt)

Hello.

It looks like since i updated Vista with SP1, i'm experiencing paquet loss.
The motherboard is a Tyan 5400xt. (bios Updated to 1.01 - Latest stable)

My cable modem box (ISP one) is on 192.168.1.1.
When i ping -t 192.168.1.1
i have about 30% paquet loss !

I changed the cable, the port on which the cable is plugged.
Disabled IPv6 etc ..

It still happens.

When i do the same test with another computer @home (running vista 32, 3Com chip Lan) No probelm !
Prior installing this 5400xt, i was running a K8we, vista Ultimate x64 SP1 same cable, same switch port : No problems at all.

So i suspect some bug / incompatibily with this Lan chipset and Vista.
I'm running MS drivers because i cannot install the latest Intel Lan drivers.
When I want to install them, it stops with a "software not compatible with this version of windows".

Here are my plans:

Boot a linux live Ubuntu : ping -t and see if it'shardware related or soft.
Then (i suspect soft) Reinstall Vista from Scratch. Update just before SP1.
Install Latest Intel drivers ( i was able to install them prior applying SP1, but after SP1 it starts to behave strangely and when i wanted to uninstall these drivers to test with MS drivers i was not able to uninstall - software incompatible with this version of windows).

Any advice / idea welcomed.
Regards.

minirecif,

Before you get too excited about packet loss pinging 192.168.1.1, why don't you ping a host on the internet somewhere and see if you see any packet loss there. Try pinging "apple.com" and tell us what you get.

Because i had problem surfing or playing. And Trying to test, i somtimes lost the connection to the Administration page of my Local Box ! so i suspected something wrong.

I just tested with Ubuntu. Same hardware, sable cable, same box
0 Paquet loss ....

With vista, about 30% ...

there's defenitly a problem with this combination , vista / Mobo / drivers.

Hi.

I found a solution to my problem.
As i said, i tried with Ubuntu and no packet loss.
so, i decided to reinstall x64 from scratch and test at each step to see who's the culprit.

Fresh Vista install (no driver update with the Mobo CD)
ping -t 192.168.1.1
a cycle between 8 ping ok, 4 loss, 8 ok, 4 loss... etc..

install the Mobo LAN driver (last update from Tyan website)
reboot.
Ping -t .....
A bit better but packet loss still here (about 10%) and much more random.

ohoh !

So, i tried with my old D-Link Game lounge router.
Plug the lan in.
ping -t ...

NO PACKET LOSS !!

It looks like it's a comptability problem with the Intel Board and the French Neuf Box V4 (FXC)

I decided to change my Setup : My computer is plugged on the d-link and the Wan port of the d-Link on the 9box.
(i even plugged the 2 Lan port and used Intel aggregation and it work !! )

I'll check and update later if i face another issue.

thanks Sidewinder for answering.

One more Addition :

I confirm that Latest drivers from Tyan's website are NOT COMPATIBLE with SP1.
you cannot install / uninstall.
If they were installed before, it still work but Agregation is broken.
