Vista - WMP11 Network Sharing Service has stopped working

I can not longer share files ie video, music, pics, with any other pc in my house including my ps3. This just started 2 days ago. Everytime I started WMP11 I get the file sharing box telling me to check my sharing settings; I check them and and everything seems fine. I also have turned off both of my firewalls from Live Onecare and windows firewall. I currently am running Vista Ultimate 32bit with intel Q6600(quad core 2.40) 2gb ram, geforce 8600gts 512mb. I also recently cleaned up my desktop and don't know if I got rid of something I shouldn't have. WMP11 works fine. I also get this every 3 minutes or so popping up.

Do you have Service Pack 1 for Vista installed. Just wondering.

The file versions listed on my computer with SP1 are the same as his.

yes I have service pack 1. I also get random BSOD, not related though.

I know I shouldnt do this but my thread might go dead; anyone have any idea what this could be?

You're right - it has only been 13 hours, and in the US we are in the middle of a holiday called Labor Day.

Don't bump posts inside of a week old, otherwise you'll get an infraction.

Also, you haven't filled in your system specifications in your User CP, so we have no idea what your hardware is. Only thing you've given us is that the failure occurs and basic hardware info - nothing about how you are connecting to the network, if the connection works OK, and any other troubleshooting you might have attempted.

Finally, have you checked to see if Windows might have pushed out any updates during the same period of time when the error started to manifest?

No prob, fill in user CP info. I wasn't sure if anyone needed more specific hardware info but if they do I'll be more than happy to give it; I didn't know what information was pertinent to the problem. I'm no vista guru, just a young guy with his first pc.

I didn't know labor was a such a popular holiday Did you know the etymology of holiday is broken down and means holy day. We don't really think of it like that anymore, it's evolved to its more bland meaning of holiday. Kind of silly I know.

On a side note: These people had the same exact problem and that was over a year ago with no response.
