Vista - Netgear Router & Adapter Problem

Have Netgear WGR614 v7 router, and Netgear WG111 wireless adapter. My PC is Vista 32bit, and my wifes's new one is Vista 64bit. Mine is direct and connection fine. My wife's PC connects but the connection is not steady and at times intermittent. I suspect I have purchase wrong hardware. Can anyone help please....

The router was supplied by Time Warner, and their techs set it up. The have been back six times, and do not know what the answer is.

Did your wife's computer come with the wireless adapter or did you install it yourself? If you installed it, I am assuming you installed the Vista x64 drivers for it as well?

What happens when you connect her computer direct like yours?

It came with wireless adapter. Also a friend came with laptop PC and he too was loosing connection in the same room.

Yes

A wired connection is going to stay connected unless your router has DHCP issues - comparing wired and wireless connections is not a fair comparison.

Do you have any devices nearby the router that might be interfering with the signal? Does your Wife's computer show a strong or weak signal? have you logged into the router to see if it is maintaining a list of connections? You might be able to see it dropping the connections and / or see other connections that should not be there in the first place. Is it a WEP secured, WPA / WPA2 secured or unsecured connection?
