a problem i cant solve

So - i am having a network issue that i cant figure out---> "vista Home Premium x64"

When ever i lock my computer and am away from it for a while i loose my internet connection, then i have to restart to get it back.... i am running fios so i should have a constant connection....I use remote desktop to that machine and also i have IM clients running where family and friends from other states and time zones can leave me a message...
what i did -
When i view my internet connection there was a RED X between my router and the globe, so i knew i had a issue - the 2 fixes so far:
1) new network cable
2) control pannel --> NIC --> turned off the options that turns off connection to save power.

Re: a problem i cant solve

check out this MS KB, it addresses several issues, one of which is when the computer returns from hibernation it looses network info, specifically gateway info.
