I am having similar problems and am greatly in need of assistance. I have tried every solution I've found so far including turning on UAC, installing the drivers
on both PCs first before trying to connect to the network printer, adding printer as a new local port, as a new tcp/ip port, and even trying to add a new port to the printer installation on the Vista PC.
- Vista Home Premium x64 on the PC that is unable to connect.
- Windows Home Server on the PC that is sharing
- The printer is an HP D5360
I am putting in the network address of the printer as "//server/office" (less the "" of course) during my attempts to add port and the printer does show up in network places, but when I double click it I get the error 0x00000709. It also shows up when I do the automated "add printer", but when I select it and try to add I get the message, "Windows cannot connect to the printer. Make sure that you have typed the name correctly, and that the printer is connected to network."
Any input would be greatly appreciated, this is driving me nuts.
