I'm on a HP pavilion dv6000 vista home pre. 64bit. Anywho, my wireless light indicator stays on orange even when its on the on/off position. I don't know what the issue is but its a pain! I managed to chat with one of them HP online techs. and they helped me solve my problem for a day. What they told me to do was to update my bios, then install the broadcom lan adaptor, in that order... but since whoever that tech was... he/she was a really slow typer so i didn't know and i installed the broadcom wireless first, and i guess my wireless picked it up right away. But the next day came by and it was yet again dead. Now im pretty much stuck with an ethernet wire and i can't get any work done at school because most of my classes need online info. (On a side note: Broadcom wireless is usually shown under Network Adaptors in my Device Manager, but now its gone and i just can't do anything to make it detect Broadcom. Also the only item that is under network adaptors is Nvidia Nforce Controller(i have no idea what that is, but its there).

It's been almost 4 weeks now since this happened, Help is greatly greatly appreciated!

Last resort** send my laptop to HP and get robbed. :(

Hi Mistergq,

The NVidia Nforce Controller is your ethernet hard-wired port ;)

Do you know the exact make/model and version of your wireless card? The issues your having are all caused by the driver its using so if you have that info around I can try find another one for you to use ;)

This is what it says on my wireless card:

"FCC ID:QDS-BRCM1020
IC:4324A-BRCM1020"
Mini PCI 802.11b/g Wireless Lan Card - 395261-001

Sorry for the inconvenient, i'm not that great with computers.

Thanks for taking your time to help.

Hey hakerbitz, My problem was that my Motherboard was acting up. I guess right after my warranty ran out, this problem occurred. I talked to hp online techs and they gave me a bunch of updates, which it worked for a few days and after that i had to keep reinstalling the new bios update then soon after it just completely stopped working. I got sick and tired of it so i CALLED hp techs instead. To make a long story short, i called them and bothered the hell out of them because they wouldn't cover my warranty(at the time my warranty for my laptop was just over but there was a recall on my motherboard which had caused this problem and those HP phone operators kept giving me BS until i had to talk to their BIG BOSS). So after 7-8 calls they finally agreed to fix my laptop.

If your laptop is a hp i would suggest you to Go talk to an online tech or if it has warranty, go turn it in right away for a new one or a quick fix. Good luck with yours.
