no internet on resume from sleep mode

I'm running 30 Vista Business x32 machines in a multimedia academy program at a local high school, and we have the same problem that so many others have regarding internet connectivity and sleep mode. Upon resuming from sleep, the computer cannot connect to the internet, and has to be restarted. However, this issue only appears AFTER installing Symantec Endpoint Protection. I have tried disabling Symantec, but the problem still occurs, which leads me to believe that the program may have modified Vista's network access manager. The fact that our students have to restart their computers every time they need to connect to the internet after sleep mode has been activated is a serious hinderance, so I'm wondering whether anyone knows more about this issue than I do, and hopefully someone has a fix for it.

Thanks in advance,
Jon

Hi

You can try the following. Ive had same problem with an Edimax(Ralink RT61) card.
Go to device manager select the ralink card then go to power management. Unclick the box "allow the computer to turn off this device". See how it goes from there.
I,m still waiting to see if the switch from XP was worth it!

I was so sick of it that I went ahead and re-imaged every single machine to implement a fix that seemed to work. I started from a fresh OS, and when installing Symantec I told it not to install anything network related. That took care of the issue I was having, but the fact remains that there is an underlying problem with Vista.

Lots of issues with Vista but they will fix it just before the Windows 7 arrives!:D

Your post is not helping the situation, please stick to helping people with the problem at hand.

As for the OP, try updating the drivers to your network card and also look for bios updates as well.

Not sure about 32bit but 64bit had an update to that problem but that was before SP1. Have you tried a Problem Report

No right, however I do care about helping people on this forum and your post has NOTHING to do with trying to help the poster fix his issue within this topic.

Take your personal opinion about vista as an OS to an appropriate forum or topic, NOT HERE.

Bogart your original post about Vista had nothing to do with helping the OP with his current issue, but instead you took the opportunity to slander Vista as an OS, then when confronted by me about it you got extremely defensive. Here is the bottom line, I don't care what your personal opinion is about Vista. I am here to help people with there issues, what are you here for? So far it looks like nothing but complaints about Vista, and in response to that I told you to take it elsewhere, we as a community here DO NOT WANT IT.

I don't know how much clearer I can be for you. If you don't like Vista fine, if you want to trash Vista fine, but do NOT do it HERE.

OP I am sorry you have had your topic derailed by this did you find anything by trying the few suggestions here other than Bogart of course.
