Changing default http port (80)?

Hola!

Is there a way to change the default port that http browsing uses? Lately I've been getting terrible lag time when browsing websites (such as this one!). But, the speed on my torrents seems to be fine. I do get the same lag though, even if torrents are not taking up anywhere near my max speed, so it's not that. . .I am wondering if my isp is somehow throttling port 80, which is why I ask if there is a way to change that one. . . (using up to date firefox, btw).

Thanks!

Zoloft

Re: Changing default http port (80)?

Port 80 is the inbound port. That is to say: the server determines that.

If the server is configured for, say, port 8888, you would type in as such: http://domainname.com:8888

Your computer uses a random outgoing port, as well. This is determined by your OS... and I'm honestly not certain how to narrow that down inside of Windows. Even if this is possible, I do not see how that would effect your browsing speed.

Re: Changing default http port (80)?

Example:

Code:
Your Computer: random port from 1024-65535 --> [INTERNET] --> Web Server:80

I appreciate the reply. Not the answer I was hoping for, but sometimes that's the way the cookie crumbles. Thanks again.
