bridge connections

what does bridging a connection do? on my manage network connections tab. i highlight the 2 connections, right click, and click on bridge connections. what does it do exactly?

Say you only have a cable modem and you don't want to disconnect your computer to play xbox live so you have 2 lan connections and you bridge the connection to share the internet connection with the xbox.

Make sure you use a crossover cable or it won't work.

It should be noted that if all you want to do is share your internet connection with your xbox, you can also use ICS (Internet Connection Sharing), which is a simpler technique for that specific purpose. (Bridges can be used for other purposes, beyond just sharing your internet connection off of your PC.)
