Vista - Netbios / Workgroup

Hi all,

For some strange reason I'm not receiving netbios broadcast to an HP notebook running Vista Business x64. I'm setup in the correct workgroup and I've enabled Network Discovery. I've also enabled/disabled the firewall with no luck. I've uninstalled the wireless/wired NIC drivers and re-setup the network profile. Nothing works.

It has worked in the past and I have changed nothing. Maybe this was caused by a recent Windows update?

Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated.

Nothing has been changed by Windows Updates relating to NetBIOS

Can you ping both machines also what do the Diagnostics say when you try to connect to another machine? It should have a cause and error code

I can ping all machines in the workgroup. I have no issues(providing I enter the IP, not the machine name) mapping a network drive or creating a network location. My issue is when click start, then click network. Within that "network" window, I can't see any machines in the workgroup.

I only see the notebook I'm using and an “unspecified” switch and printer.
