one computer, it brings down the network

When I plug in my network cable into one computer, it brings down the network, ping times jump from 97ms to 1200ms? Any thoughts? There was a trogan found but it was supposed to have been cleaned. I have AVG Free on this PC, and every time you plug in this network cable to this pc the is a trogan caught. The same one over and over. And it says it is deleted. I even found it in the regestry and dleted it.

Re: one computer, it brings down the network

Hi Sag12, and welcome to the Vista Forums

What I would suggest is that you download, install, and run these, on all your machines see if they find anything.

Spybot
The home of Spybot-S&D!

Malwarebytes
Malwarebytes.org

reason I suggest this is that this trojan has got through AVG so maybe it's having troubles removing it

The first thing any virus does is disable your A/V.

Re: one computer, it brings down the network

Hello sag12, welcome to Vista forums!

In addition to Nigel's suggestions run a scan with this Free ESET Online Antivirus Scanner

Another suggestion would be to replace AVG with Free Avast Home though it's free you will have to register with Avast. When you install it, let it run a boot scan. Quite a lot of people have had problems with AVG doing a good job in Vista.

I assume you're using a hardware firewall. If not Comodo Firewall Pro is a good free program.

Keep us informed!

I wish I had more info to say just what caused it but I don't. I am still checking logs as I go.
