| vista ultimate 32x | Network works, then error 0x80070035 after 15 minutes I've got a really simple peer to peer network that I'm completely stumped by (making me even more simple?). Anyway, I've got a Vista x64 desktop box with a wired connection to a router, and a Vista x32 notebook with a wireless connection to the router. When I boot the 2 machines at the same time, they can both find each other and share files flawlessly. That's when I get my hopes up.... After about 15 minutes, though, the connection is lost. Both machines remain connected to the Internet, and nowhere can I see any kid of status change on either machine. The desktop machine still appears when I click 'Network', but when I double click it to try to browse files I get: Error code 0x80070035 The network path was not found. Once the connection is lost, here's what I've tried to troubleshoot this: - confirm same subnet mask and default gateway ip- confirmed both machines are in the same workgroup. - temporarily disable firewall (norton 360) - voodoo curse to dispel the evil network demons - drank 2 bottles of scotch. No effect on network whatsoever, but I felt much better abouth the problem.-confirmed network type is private - disabled tcp/ip v6 - created an identical user account on both machines with identical password - ensured windows firewall is not turned on - performed excorcism (didn't help with this, but did get rid of one of my son's demons!) - confirmed that printer and file sharing are turned on in both machines - confirmed public folder sharing is enabled on both machines (tried it with passwords required for sharing and without) - ensured that there are folders shared on both machines. At that I point I lost track of what else I may have tried - but if you've got any suggestions I would be forever in your debt. Anyone who can fix this can have one of my kids (even the demon-free one!). Thanks in advance. |

| Windows 7 RC x64 Vista HP x86 | Re: Network works, then error 0x80070035 after 15 minutes Hi slapshottttttt, Welcome to the vista forums, ![]() one thing I didn't see on your list was to check the power options for the NIC's make sure that the option "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is disabled in the NIC properties. |

| vista ultimate 32x | Re: Network works, then error 0x80070035 after 15 minutes Thanks for the quick response - and for the welcome! I don't think that's the problem, as both the desktop and the laptop continue to have Internet connectivity (which wouldn't be possible if the NIC was in sleep mode, would it?). I did take a look at those settings though, just to be on the safe side and that doesn't seem to be the problem. |

| Vista Business x32 | Re: Network works, then error 0x80070035 after 15 minutes I am not real familiar with peer to peer networks, but . . . Can you access the laptop from the desktop? Or is this issue just with accessing the desktop from the laptop? |

| vista ultimate 32x | Re: Network works, then error 0x80070035 after 15 minutes I can access both ways, until the connection is lost that is. I did notice, though, that when I try connect to the laptop from the desktop it asks me for a username and password, and even if I check 'remember this password' it asks for a username/password every time. I do not get asked for a user/pass the other way (from the laptop to the desktop) |

| vista ultimate 32x | Re: Network works, then error 0x80070035 after 15 minutes Something else that I've noticed is that if I start the desktop without connecting the laptop, the desktop will shutdown and restart properly. If the laptop has been connected to the desktop, however, the desktop will hang on the "shutting down' screen. NOt sure if that helps but thought I'd mention it. |

| Vista Ultimate 32bit | Re: Network works, then error 0x80070035 after 15 minutes I had the same problem...When I access some network PCs / servers at some point (after 15 mins) the connection is lost and I get this error message. I can ping the server but not access the pc...It seems tha something timeouts! The pc after that was not able to shutdown properly (remained at logging off...) No solution whatsoever in fora or Microsoft. Try this workaround that WORKS for me (unbelievable...) I used the sync center of Vista - for offline viewing of network folders. I created an empty folder the pc / server that I am interested in viewing and made it to synchronize for offline viewing every 5 mins. PROBLEM SOLVED!!! I still cannot believe that this works... (at least for me...) |
