| Vista Home Premium 64bit | Internet random lag spikes. (64-bit Home Premium) Hey, So I recently installed Vista (See title for version) and as the topic states, I get random lag spikes every thirty seconds or so. I searched the net to see if I was alone and found that this is a fairly common problem but I could not find an answer on how to stop it. This problem is most noticeable when gaming or steaming and has become quite frustrating. I tried using Wlan optimizer but with no success. I attempted to take every other factor out: using different internet connections and ISP's (ADSL2 and Cable), different PC's, different OS's, different network cards and different connection types and found it only happens to wireless connections on vista. My wireless card is: Linksys WMP54g v4.1. Just wondering if anyone has a solution to fix this problem .Thanks. |

| Vista Home Premium x64 | Re: Internet random lag spikes. (64-bit Home Premium) Hi I had posted about this same exact problem last night, I actually fixed it earlier, try doing this, in the search bar type "CMD" when cmd appears right click it and select "Run as administrator" a prompt should pop up,find out your network name by typing "netsh wlan show settings" it should show the network you're on then type wlan set autoconfig enabled=no interface=”name of your wireless network here” example: wlan set autoconfig enabled=no interface=”Wireless Network Connection” (with the quotes) it should stop the problem, if you reset your computer it may not be able to find networks so you need to re-enable it by typing wlan set autoconfig enabled=yes interface=”name of your wireless network here” connect to the network of your choice, then repeat it with the "no interface" step |

| Vista Home Premium x86 - SP2 | Re: Internet random lag spikes. (64-bit Home Premium) I did some research on this, and found a success story by doing the following. It's worth a try. Fixing WMP54g Lag Spikes > Reset MTU to Auto > Changed wireless from both to G only. > Changed channel from 6 to 11 and turned SSID broadcast off > Enabled wireless MAC address filtering and only put my device's mac address on the list > Under QoS I made highest device priority to my computer's mac address > Disabled uPnP Good luck, hope this helps! |
