WEP access on Vista SP

I need help!

I recently set up a router at home (D-link DSL-2740B). This I connected to my home pc via cable. I set the encryption to WEP (this is the only security my work laptop will support). But my home laptop (running Vista SP Home Premium doesn't connect if this WEP encryption is set (it only connects if WPA).

Does Vista not recognise WEP? How can I change the settings on my Vista laptop to accept WEP?

Grateful for any advice.

You have to create the connection manually. If you right click on the network and sharing center, choose connect to a network. At the bottom, click on "Set up a connection or network." From there, choose "Manually connect to a wireless network." Enter your desired name and under security type, choose WEP.

On a side note, if you can avoid using WEP, by all means do. Its gone the way of the dinosaur and is VERY easy to crack, in fact, there are guides on how to do so on youtube.

Hope that helps.
