Vista + Hp + Norton

Hi,

I've been trying to help a friend with a HP laptop to uninstall Norton Internet Security. As soon as the software is uninstalled, the WLAN wont work. Then I reset the computer to a previous configuration (yesterday) and the WLAN works fine again. Have done this 20+ times now, and I can't figure out whats wrong. Any ideas? AVG Free is now installed together with Norton.

Re: Vista + Hp + Norton

Did you make sure that Norton was fully removed, I believe there is a removal tool from their site to use as I believe it can be a pig to get rid of otherwise.
I hope you haven't got both anti virus programs running as that can cause problems.

Re: Vista + Hp + Norton

I tried the Norton Removal Tool, with the same result. Actually both programs are running at the same time, since I don't want him to be online without protection. Is it recommended to uninstall AVG first, then run Norton Removal Tool and (if successful) install AVG?

Hi towei,

It may be worth trying that. Obviously, disconnect from the net while doing it.

You need to reboot after using the Norton uninstall tool to ensure complete removal.

Hope it helps
