Vista - Want to setup Printer Sharing, please help

I have an XP desktop with printer installed and want my Vista Laptop to be able to use the desktop's printer. Can someone please give me some insight? Thanks,

Have you made the printer on the XP machine shared, can you see the XP machine from the Vista one on a network.?
Make sure that your firewall is allowing it through.
Have you had a look in the Tutorials to see if there is anything there that will help, sorry but I don't have a link handy to give you at the moment

the printer on the xp-based desktop is set to 'shared' but my vista laptop cannot find the printer when 'searching'

Can your laptop see the XP machine at all on your network?

In addition, what type of connections are each machine using? Can you describe your network setup?

No my laptop cannot see my desktop. I guess I'm hoping for some instructions on setting my desktop to share and to start a shared printer connection. Both my desktop and laptop connect wirelessly to a secondary linksys router which runs off the main 2Wire router.

The hard part is that it is a chore, at even the best of times. there have been numerous complaints about one not seeing the other for whatever reason.
