FTP problems - recently upgraded to Windows 64-bit

Hi I recently upgraded to Vista 64 bit from XP. I use FIlezilla ver 3.1.5.1 as my ftp client. From what i read online people seemt o be fine using this version on vista 64bit. I am on a home network. We use Norton internet security. It worked fine for a while but recently larger files (that take a bit longer) will not download nor upload. The client program connects to the server and lists the files on the server. it even downloads some of the very small files. But anything else hangs after about 3-4% then times out.

I tried downloading and using the new Smartftp vista 64 bit version as well as FlashFXP (the mozilla add-in). Also tried Cross FTP which seems to be a hosted ftp client. I also tried using Dreamweaver's FTP feature. All have same problem. I can't think of anything major that was recently changed. I use the same filezilla version at work on a different computer that is on Windows XP platform and that works fine.

Any suggestions? (in layman's terms)

Hi, degrees, and welcome to the forums.

It sounds like it is simply timing out, but that could be due to a number of reasons.

First and foremost - is it timing out at *any* site? What size files are we talking here? Have you tried making a rule to allow FileZilla traffic / FTP traffic to bypass Norton's filters?
