Can not use port 113

Ok i could make a book of this problem so i am going to make it short my old system was xp and i needed to make xp listen on port 113 so i can use i dent to use my ftp on private ftp sites i found some resolve a few years back and i had to add something to the regisrty which i forgot now .. so now i have new vista 64 and with evething off nothing installed new clean install with firewall turned of still will not listen on port 113
is there some else i am missing in vista i hope this makes since cause i need and use ftp everyday and cannot log in without ident working ... please somebody help I do not want to go back to xp :(

I would enable the firewall. Log in using the administrator account. See if UAC is blocking access. What are you using ftp for? You can add the port into the firewall's exception list. tcp/113 is the ident port for for sendmail. You can add it as an exclusion. You will also need to allow it on your router.

ok using flashfxp fire wall turned on or off still no work set up port 113 tcp and udp i think is what it is called it worked fine in xp same router set up in fine in router is there a way to turn everything off in uac ? man i really need to figure this out thanks for replying hope we can work this out

You can disable UAC. I don't recommend this. I don't remember off hand how to do it. Check your help file. It was a switch and a reboot. Try it from your administrator account.

What do you need it for? Can you access the information via HTML? I did some google searches. It seems like Vista does not have a ftp daemon that accepts 113.

ok it is for private ftp sites there has to to be a way to make windows let me use port 113 i just wish what i did in xp in the registry to make it work years ago i could remember dont give up on this please :)..

Vista is not XP. I would consider dual booting XP and Vista. Install XP first and create a second partition for Vista. Vista security is not as easy to bypass. I don't go to private FTP sites.

the old xp system i still have and it is networed through the router with the vista machine has lone has the xp system is running and i try to connecto to fxp it works on the vista machine cause on the xp machine the port 113 is open is there a way to see what program is using port 113 on the vista machine or to see why it is not open ,
is there a way to make vista open port 113 in the bootup or regestry

enable the firewall and add it to the exclusion list. You would need a ftp daemon tool for it to work in Vista.

Nothing in Vista should be using 113. Many a program like Sandra or Everest have a diagnostics to see ports and what software is using them.

is it is working al this program does is listen to port 113 and when i try to connect to a ftp site it watches for a packet from there side on port 113 and then it sends them my nfo so the ftp program knows it is really me not somebody else spoofing my login

ok well i fixed it last night not sure why it did this but anyhow this works ...
i have a static ip and use a different dns that what the provider tells you too use in the network when i built this all i did was tell it to get the ip from provider.. Well i decided to put the numbers in my self and rebooted and wow it work
