I Have An HP Dv5t Pavilion With An Intel Pentium Dual CPU T3200 @ 2.00GHz, My Wireless Internal Network Card Is A "Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN".

I Have Been Using This Laptop For 2 Months With No Problems At All. And Just On Thursday My Norton 60 Trial Ran Out, So Of Course I Deleted It From My Control Panel. And After That, Is When I Started Getting This Problem. I Have Looked Around The Web And Tried A Dozen Different Solutions That Do Not Work For Me. And It Has Been piddling Me Off So Much To the Point Where I'm About To Format The Hard Drive. I Do Not Wish To Take Such Drastic Measures. So Will Any Of You Please Help Me

First off, the capitalization of every word is a little annoying just fyi.

Second, try reinstalling drivers for your network card, and make sure your computer is updated. What are you using to monitor the WiFi card? The vista program or a third party program?

Sorry about that just a little something i got used to. Yeah i reinstalled both drivers. And everything was up to date. My set dad is an IT guy and doesn't know Vista that well and i am trying to do a Recovery Install which may fix it. But if not, i will definitely will just go back to XP.

Don't worry about. Interesting problem. Are you using a third party program to run the wireless card? Or the built on Vista one? Is it a boult in wireless card or one you put in?
Also, have you tried hardwiring to get Internet?

Ok. Well i am using the hardware that is already in the laptop, the Broadcom 802.11 b/g WLAN card. I have also tried using a Linksys USB Wireless Adapter, and still it shows up as Unidentified/Local Only Networks. I am just very confused about this.

Interesting. This could be a problem with your router rather than your computer. Have you tried using your laptop in a place like starbucks? To get free WiFi there, and to see if your computer can see the network. Try unplugging your router and modem, and waiting about 30secs then plug them back in. Also, try using the vista network stuff. Have you tried a hard wire?

I had the same problem for ages.
I got around it by changing the configuration in my router.

Well i would change the routers configuration, but it is connected to maybe 4 other compters in my house, that all use XP. My pc is the only one with Vista. I will see f my father will let me configure it. But if not i think im just screwed.
