All drives shared, cannot access 1

I have multiple drives on my Vista machine, some are partitions. One drive it will not let me access thru the network, from an XP box, and another Vista box.

All shared settings are the same on all the drives. I cant figure out how to access this 1 important drive from my network!

Did you setup the shared rights for that drive properly? Is it FAT32 or NTFS?

I am pretty sure it is set up right. I never had an issue until Vista.
Here is a .jpg of both drives shared settings.

Drive E on the left I cant access
Drive G on the right, full access, no problems

I share the same issue. I added a replacement drive to my PC to replace a failing drive and copied a complete partition to the new drive. I then shared the partition using the same (working) share settings as the old drive. This new partition cannot be accessed from any other PC on my network. This includes XP Pro, Vista Ultimate and Windows 7 beta 6801.

I'm totally lost and have checked all settings several times. Other partitions on the new drive can be accessed, just not this particular one.

Any help would be appreciated,
Chris

Aggravating isn't it! I consider myself computer savvy somewhat, but cannot figure this out for the life of me.
Not to get off topic, but the new PC cannot pull large files without an error. But if I push the files from another PC to this one, its fine.

I blame Vista. So far my only 2 complaints, but they are somewhat major issues in my opinion.

Thanks for getting back to me and yes it's very aggravating!! I may have solved my problem. I forgot to mention my PC dual boots Xp and Vista. I set up Xp first (seems easier that way) and never really did much with it other than use some older programs that won't play nice with Vista. After installing Xp, I used Partition Magic to create two other partitions on my new drive (through Xp). One was for data (the one I can't access) and Vista.

After posting last night it dawned on me that I've never been booted into Xp, and tried to connect to the network drives from another PC. So I did, and in Xp, nothing was shared! I shared all the drives I wanted to use, rebooted to Vista, and now all is well in my Windows world- GRRR!

I suppose Xp had put a "marker" on the inaccessable shared drive not to share it, and it must take presidence over Vista as Xp was the first to see the drive.

I don't know if you have any other OS's on your computer, but if you do, try to see if they can share the drive.

I'll have to think out the file transfer issue. Sounds like a network issue more than a Vista issue. I don't have any trouble with errors and large files.

Thanks again for your time,
Chris

hmm, not here, both Vista machines only, and on new hd.
But the shared drive was a xp data drive before, but so was the shared drive i cannot access, still makes no sense.
