| Vista Home Premium | Help with Windows Easy Transfer Cable Hi Guys, I purchased the Easy Transfer Cable (Vista compatible) and installed the included software on my old computer (windows XP, laptop about 5 years old). I connected the two computers as instructed, and chose the custom setting because I only want some files and settings to be transferred, but when I start transferring I always get a message during the first stage, when the software on my old computer says it's trying to "gather information about the system;" I get an error message (on my NEW laptop, with Vista Home Premium) saying, "there's an error with the connection, and the easy transfer program will close down now." In this case the old computer seems to be doing ok though. I tried about 3 times and I get the same message everytime!! I searched the forum but none had the same kind of problem I mentioned (people mentioned scanning problem, connection problem, or mostly happen with the old computer hanging), but not on the NEW computer with the same error message. I'm really frustrated because it's taking up a lot of my time already, and I can assure you the connections were fine all the time (they're sitting next to each other, with cable firmly attached). Anyone could help me please?? Or is there a way I could just use the cable and drag the files I want to the new destination? ![]() Thanks all, mirr |

| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: Help with Windows Easy Transfer Cable Did you find a solution or did somebody give you any useful advice? I have exactly the same problem and I have spent the best part of the past three days trying to make the Easy Transfer Cable connection work, but with no success so far Thanks |

| Vista Home Premium x64 | Re: Help with Windows Easy Transfer Cable the easy transfer cable is just a way for companys like belkin making money off the consumer, you have been sold a glorified USB cable, all you need to do is connect both computers to a router via a standard ethernet cable, drag all your old documents to the shared folder on the old computer and open the shared folder on the new computer, drag and drop into documents |
