| Vista Home Premium | Yet another NVIDIA nForce networking controller driver problem. We recently bought a SR5605F Compaq Presario Desktop computer with Windows Vista already pre-installed on it. Since I got my internet back today, I decided to hook the new computer up and use the internet. However, much to my dismay, it gives me a limited connection to the modem and has me hooked up to an unidentified network. The driver installed is the Nvidia nForce networking controller, and as I've read in a few threads already, it has major problems with Vista. What I'm really looking for is a way to fix this problem, instead of calling Circuit City and asking them if I could replace it with something else. Any, and all help would be greatly appreciated. (I apologize for the lack of computer specs, I haven't been able to thoroughly investigate the machine, and I really wouldn't know where to begin looking.) Edit: Worst case, I'm going to have to take it back to the store and see if they can exchange it for something that does work. |

| Vista Home Premium | Re: Yet another NVIDIA nForce networking controller driver problem. I believe that that's the specifics of what I have now. I'll try both drivers, and see what happens. Edit: The 64 bit would not install, so it's a 32 bit OS. As for an updated driver, I tried to update, and it told me it was already up to date. I am taking the machine back to the store, and I am having it looked at. If they find it isn't working, they're going to give me something else, and I'm hoping, that if they give me something that's near the same price, they won't charge me for replacing something that had a problem to begin with. Thanks for the help though, ITJ. Last edited by noitenshi; 12-18-2008 at 11:02 AM.. |
