Vista - Web pages spotty, not loading

So, I have this brand new asus laptop, I've configured the network and vista isn't accessing the internet properly it seems. I can load some sites but not others, for exapmle google loads but not microsoft.com (it resolves the location but is constantly waiting). Also, I am able to ping any site from command line, so it seems that dns is resolving properly. I've updated the wireless driver. It seems like a compatability issue with the router, but as I'm new to vista I could be missing something.

the *OS* and the *router* are not going to have compatibility issues if you're using TCP/IP - it's standard.

What you *should* be looking at, instead, is if there is any pre-installed software, such as a firewall, or AV suite, that is preventing you from moving forward....

Technically I could argue that point as The first week I had vista my internet kept dumping after talking with linksys there are vista incompatible routers :-) using tcip
There were firmware updates for vista but not for my particular router
