VoIP is disconnecting my whole connection.

Hey,

I have recently set-up a new PC with Window's Vista. Now I am unsure if this version is the '64', or the '32' bit, but I think it is '64'. - I have the option to run IE in 64-bit and have most of my programs running in the 'x86' program folder. Anyhow...

...I am having issues when it comes to 'VoIP'; I have used MS Messenger and Skype; both using the current versions, and I also tried Skype's beta software too.

At any point during a call, my entire connection goes down for my PC (wireless node on a two computer network, through a router). It is back up within a few seconds. This only happens when I am using VoIP, and am in a call.

I have tried these things with no scucess:
  • Opened the ports that Skpe requires in both incomming and outgoing traffic on my router
  • Checked that Skype / Messenger are allowed through the Windows firewall
  • Disabled Windows firewall
  • Updated to the latest GPU, Network and Ac'97 sound drivers
  • Have Service pack 1 and all the (that are available on the MS site) updates installed
  • Installed Skype to another directory other than 'programsx86'
  • Given Skype Admin' rights (I am the computers admin', and sign-in as such)
I have another program called 'Sightspeed' to try but have a good idea that the same will happen.

Any help is very much apprciated, as I am having a bad time with computers for months and months now.

k s c

EDIT:

I had no problems running Messenger or Skype (or the VoIP that's built into a game I play) before I started using my new PC, with Vista. I have been with the same ISP and telecom for a few years. My router was fine, and my OS was fine when it came to making a call.
Also, if it helps, I make the call from my computer to another computer, without telephone numbers. Peer to peer..?
I live in N.Somerset, SW England.
For the last two nights, the connection has lasted 1hr - 1.5hrs, before a disconect.
