Event 1103: DHCP Client

Hi,

Do you know something about the event Id 1103: DHCP client ? I have the very same problem as this guy: DHCP-Client spam in eventlog

Every 15th second, an event 1103 (DHP-Client) is added into the event log of my Vista Ultimate (Laptop) and my Vista Home (HTPC).

Looking if DHCP-NAP was enabled on my PC, I found that:

Quote:
C:\Users\OgeGOon>netsh nap client show state
The "Network Access Protection Agent" service is not running.
So, I guess it's not. And if I start the NAP client configuration snap-in (I am not in a Domain wih a policy server but in a "home" workgroup), I don't see any "DHCP" enforcement enabled.

In addition, on my DHCP server (running in my Modem/Router), the lease time is 300 minutes...

I would like to stop this "spam" but don't succeed in finding any relevant information (I probably don't use the right keywords in google, but I am not a english native speaker).

O.

Re: Event 1103: DHCP Client

I would first start with the 300 min lease time. That is not nearly long enough. Depending on if this is a home network with a little Linksys or whatever router I would reset that thing or change the lease time.

Re: Event 1103: DHCP Client

Thx for your answer !

I have set 600 minutes. And since, no spam anymore. Actually, I have also "restarted" the router after this change and I think it's this reset that has solved the problem. I didn't restart this router since several months...

Indeed, I didn't think about looking at the routeur log before
And the Lease expiration there was "0" on several Mac Addresses.. So I guess that there was some problem with the settings actually taken into account by the device.
