1) Wireless vs Wired connection: It been a while but I think your wired connection is 10/100 MB while your wireless is 54 MB. And depending on the type of wireless you will not get the max 54MB.
2) Its going to be slow if you are transferring large files as in GB of music.
3) Something that may speed up the process would be to compress the data before you transfer it. Also try changing the frequency of your wireless to make sure you are not getting any interference from other electrical devices.
