| Microsoft Vista Home Premium x64 Service Pack 1 | Network Discovery Network Discovery is "on" on the Vista workstation. All computers are using the same workgroup. The XP computers can "see" everything on the network. I can ping each computer from the Vista workstation. Same results with firewall on or off. The problem seems isolated to the Vista computer and has popped up recently. The only change made to the Vista computer was removal of Windows Live One Care. The XP computers also have had Windows Live One Care removed but can still "see" each other, the Samba file server (Debian) and the Internet. The Vista computer can connect to the Internet but cannot connect to any XP computer, the file server or shared printer. I can use Remote Desktop from the Vista computer to access the XP computers. I can use PuTTY from the Vista computer to access the Samba fileserver. |

| vista ultimate x64 | Re: Network Discovery Hi dhoeschen, This is a common vista problem and it is to do with accessibility rights. You may do the following Simply run a command prompt as an administrator (right-click on it and click "Open as Administrator") then enter the following command line: net localgroup "Administrators" "NT Authority\Local Service" /add I hope it solves your problem Network Discovery is "on" on the Vista workstation. | Microsoft Vista Home Premium x64 Service Pack 1 | Re: Network Discovery Thanks for the help danne. The command was entered successfully but still no luck. I forgot to mention that I can't see my wired and wireless print servers either. Funny thing is that everything worked great while Windows Live One Care was loaded. Update: I still can't see any computers in "Network" or on the network map, from Network and Sharing Center, but I can still access the computer by typing in the computer name and share folder (||COMPUTER|Share) Last edited by dhoeschen; 01-14-2009 at 08:32 AM.. |
