Troublesome Wireless...

I've been servicing a system that is giving me a major headache.
The wireless device can't seem to be started/enabled (Broadcomm 802.11g internal).
I've also tried a USB D-Link and a pcmcia card (model escapes me atm) without success. these 2 do enable but cannot see any access points. There are typically 3 in our building with another 10 or so in range. I can't be sure but I feel that yesterday when I fixed the initial problem it was establishing a limited connection with the shop router. The original problem was the internal Marvell Gigabit Ethernet controller was non-functional (I Deleted and redetected/reinstalled the drivers in vista to fix it). Is there a way to reinstall the wireless or networking? I am planning to do a sfc in the morning when I head back to work just in case but I suspect it won't find anything.
Any ideas? I've been banging my skull on this one enough as it is. I wa going to try a Vista repair (as outlined in one of your tutorials) next.

p.s. When enabling the broadcomm vista says "Enabling the Device" then "Device Enabled" however the device stays disabled in the network devices screen.
