Hide read Messages

I'm experiencing a problem with newsgroups in WinMail. I set the current view to Hide read messages, but it on exiting all messages are hidden. Is there something else I should have done or is it a problem that still needs to be fixed?

Please follow this :
(Menu Bar) click VIEW > Current View, click Hide Read or Ignored Messages > Customize Current View >
1.) under Selest the conditions ......
check " Where the message has been read "
2.) under View description ......
change to " where the message has BEEN READ " OR where the message is IGNORED
and " HIDE the message "
> OK > OK

Thanks for your help.
It does all these things, but on LEAVING the newsgroup, those messages that I have not read and want to come back to later are hidden. Is there not a way that I can (on returning to the newsgroup) see those?

OK, make a slight change.......
View > Current View, click Copy of Hide Read Messages ( note : NO Ignored messages ) > Customize current view. See if it has changed to just " where the message has Been Read " and " Hide the message ". No more IGNORED. If yes, OK yourself out.
Try reading one newsgroup message, exit then return. See if the rest un-read messages are there. It works on my computer with the same settings.

I have tried the following several times. I read one, shut down WM, came back and the unread messages were there.

VIEWS > Current View ( don't bother to click any options there ) > Customize Current View . Under (1) change to " Where the message has been read ".
Under (2) change to Hide the message. > OK
Now try it. t-4-2

My last trump card.
Tools > Options > Advanced > Maintanance. Make sure " Purge newsgroup messages in the background " is NOT checked.
If it is still " no go ", go back to the default setting.
I am stumped. It works on my machine.

The only checked boxes are: delete all news messages 5 days after being downloaded and compact the database after 100 runs.
The messages have not been deleted because when I go back and they are not showing and I go to view - show all messages they return, the unread ones are marked as read (not in bold).

Thanks for your help anyway. I will continue to experiment and if I find a solution I'll post it here. Something I noticed is that in current view that a "copy of hide messages" appears for each time you change something. What is that for?
