| Vista Ultimate 64 | Sharing a printer over a network problem. My main computer that has the printer installed is vista 64bit. The other computers around the house are XP pro 32bit. I can see the printer but when I try to print it says it does not the driver. I go to install additional drivers but it won't let it happen. I have a canon MP780 AIO printer. Can anyone tell me what needs to be done? I have googled but not found my answer. Thanks. |

| Vista x64 + Windows 7 x64 (Ultimate) | Re: Sharing a printer over a network problem. So, the printer is attached to the Vista computer and are you sure the other XP's machines have the same Workgroup name? it would appear so since you say you can see the printer. How are you trying to install the printer on the other computers? can you give us a run down. |

| Vista Ultimate 64 | Re: Sharing a printer over a network problem. Yes, because I have been working on it for months now and just want to have a printer intsalled. I go in and go to add a printer on my xp machine. I go through the steps it says like you are going to connect to ..... Then it says the print server does not have the drivers installed do you want to add them etc. I go through the process but it won't let me do it. By the way I got my driver for the fax installed and it worked fine. I don't want the fax driver though. |

| Vista Ultimate 64 | Re: Sharing a printer over a network problem. Printer is strictly a usb printer. That is just the wording that is coming up when I am doing this. |

| Vista x64 + Windows 7 x64 (Ultimate) | Re: Sharing a printer over a network problem. Ok, are the other pc's on the same WORKGROUP name as your Vista pc? Are you trying to install as a local printer or Network printer? when it ask for the drivers, are you pointing the install to the correct printer drivers or are you letting windows install the default printers? I need you to answer all the questions, otherwise, you confuse me more than I can help you with. |

| Vista Ultimate 64 | Re: Sharing a printer over a network problem. Yes, they are on the same workgroup. It is just a local printer hooked up to my vista machine and I want to print from my other computer in the other room. Honestly when it asks for the drivers I don't know for sure which drivers I am installing. I got the fax drivers to work from the other computer to the printer but I don't care about that. Confused, you're telling me. I confuse myself more and more also. I thought I could get it. I have done it a bunch of times on other computers but this one is killing me. |
