Network adaptor issue

Hi iv recently reinstalled vista on my system twice, but now its says there are hardware problems, specfically, Rehlic-Gigabite-Ethennet, it says this hardware is not working properly in device manager, and when i put in an installation cd for bt and it scans my computer for connections now it says it cant find any available conections, even though I have an ethenet cable in my computer, i even tried a usb one but that didnt work. also looked in bios nothing helped and reinstalled vista again , put it on my second hardrive, but the same issue occurs. So i cannot get online, and any ideas why the network adaptor is not working any more?
