| Windows 7 x64 (7229) | Linksys router works but have some ??? This new router works great. 2 computers on DSL line and connection is great! The question I have is, when I was setting up the router with the "quick setup" software, it stopped and said "unable to configure router" and something like "there may be a problem with your connection" I am a little confused. I have not tried the wireless feature of the router as I don't have a wireless device but everything seems to work great. I have Vista x64 Do I need to do manually what that software does? Is this it? (see link) Answer Are routers plug and play? Firmware is up to date. I did check that. No driver downloads on website. I can't seem to find it in the device manager. (under network adapters ?) Any help would be great, Thanks. |

| Windows 7 x64 (7229) | Re: Linksys router works but have some ??? Thanks for the reply. So since it all works fine, I should leave it alone. However I'm the type that likes to dive in and find out what's really going on. I would like to know why the set-up failed. I did install the LELA software that come with Linksys routers. It is cool as heck. It shows a detailed map of the network and lets you add devices with a few clicks. Do routers require drivers? Should a router be in the device manager? |

No they won't show up in the device manager and no they don't require drivers either cause the firmware takes care of that on the router. What you ran was the router setup to get the information for your provider like if you have a static or dynamic ip address. |
