not connected to internet at boot

When I boot up my computer the internet connection is not started. I have to click diagnose and repair to get the internet working. This only happens when booting the computer to use it. Any idea what might cause this?

Re: not connected to internet at boot

Sorry. It is via a router (Verizon) and it is connected by cable. I have an XP computer on the networks as well. Also on the cable. When I first got the computer it would connect to the internet every time I turned it on. Just as of this week I have to click diagnose and repair.

Re: not connected to internet at boot

What have you done differently this week that may have caused this, have you installed any new software attached any new hardware things like that, what anti-virus and firewall are you using ?

I don't think I can help but thought I'd try throwing out ideas that may jog your memory about something you've done that may have caused it

Re: not connected to internet at boot

I had done nothing new. I did read where a few people were having issues with the internet just dropping off. A few changes in the connection properties took care of their problems. I tried what they said worked for their problem. So far, so good. The computer connects to the internet automatically when I boot up. This might help with an online game I play. I can play for about 20 minutes and the internet disconnects.

Re: not connected to internet at boot

Are you telling us that your problem with the computer not connecting when first booting is now solved ? If this is the case and you now have another problem perhaps you would be better starting a new thread giving the details about it so you can get the help you need

Would you like to share what the 'Fix' in properties was, so that other users with similar problems can try to solve their problems?? It all helps.

Re: not connected to internet at boot

I went into internet options and unchecked I believe "shut off this device (internet connection card) when not in use for a while. Something like that. It has worked fine since then.
