wireless modem/router setting please view!

i dont know what this means, when i changed the DTIM interval it made the wireless connection much better but when i google the other things to find out what they mean i get a whole load of stuff and no answer can some one please explain what these thing mean?and what they do?
Eg: if i increase say RX buffer num what will happen?
Wireless Mode > Off11g11b+g+n
RX Buffer Num(1-256) > 256
TX Queue Len(1-1000) > 500
RTS Threshold (256-2347) > 256
Beacon Interval (20-1000) > 20 (milliseconds)
DTIM Interval (1-255) > 255
TX Chainmask> - 7
RX Chainmask> - 7
