| Windows Vista Ultimate x64 | Random Internet connection Problem First post here so greetings to you all ![]() I have got a problem with Firefox, Internet explorer and Windows live messenger. They were all working fine untill a few days ago. When I try to start my browsers the come up with: Cannot display this page. Messenger just doesn't connect at all. Windows updater cannot connect to the server and my virsus software cannot connect either. This problem came completely out of the blue and happened randomly when I was surfing the internet. The weird thing is that Steam is still running and is still connected to the internet, so I can play online games and access my friends list but NOT the online steam community. This implies that the connection to the internet is still there, but browsing of any descption will not work. I have tried Repairing the network adapter, restoring to a system restore point a week before the problem started to happen, putting my PC in a DMZ plus zone in my router options, starting up in safe mode to see if a start up program is casing the problem. However none of these worked. I have done virus scans with NOD32 and a few spyware searches and nothing came up. I typed into the Command Promt IPCONFIG/ALL and the following came up: C:\Windows\system32>ipconfig/all Windows IP ConfigurationHost Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : **** Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . : Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Broadcast IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No DNS Suffix Search List. . . . . . : gateway.2wire.net Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : gateway.2wire.net Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Realtek RTL8168B/8111B Family PCI-E GBE N IC Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-1F-D0-85-26-** DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : **.159.107.185(Preferred) Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.252 Lease Obtained. . . . . . . . . . : 08 March 2009 11:26:55 Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : 08 March 2009 12:01:55 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : **.159.107.186 DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.***.1.254 DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.***.1.254 NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Enabled Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 6: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 02-00-54-55-4E-** DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 7: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : gateway.2wire.net Description . . . . . . . . . . . : isatap.gateway.2wire.net Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-E0 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 11: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : gateway.2wire.net Description . . . . . . . . . . . : 6TO4 Adapter Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-E0 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes IPv6 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 2002:519f:6bb9::519f:****(Preferred) Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.***.1.254NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Disabled C:\Windows\system32> Some numbers have been masked. | Windows Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: Random Internet connection Problem Yeah only just haha. Port 80 was being blocked. Don't know how it happened but I messed around with my router settings on another computer on the same network. Go to the Command Prompt and type: IPCONFIG Then the first line of the ipconfig should be the address that you put in your address bar. It varies between routers but try and assign a different IP address or change the type of IP, Static or DCHP and see what happens! Hope this helps. |
