the older I get the more I forget.... XP won't see VISTA

    Hi All,

I used to have a network that consisted of:
    XP Pro / XP Home / Win 98 / Win 2000

they all saw each other and I was able to move & change files between them.

I have had VISTA since 9/2008 and I now LOVE it!!!! ( got it tweaked the way I want ---- thank you SHAWN!!!!! )

however, my vista machine sees my XP machines and the shared folders but my XP machines don't see vista when I open network folder.

I have everything shared, all permissions are full.
I tried again to set up network on XP machine and it sees the vista shares but not allowed access.

ps don't know if it matters, vista is a laptop running wireless.

    please help
    thanks

    Carmine

    hi again Joan,

I looked at firewall and it seems fine to me.

I retried the network setup on the xp mach and I'm able to access the public folder

Create a account in vista called "test" , assign a password. create an account on XP , name it "test" , assign the same password as that of the Vista system. Now , fire up teh 2 systems by loggin in to the test account.
