| Vista Home premium 32bit | Passing a connection through. I have a Cross-over cable (I'm sure becuase the wires either end are different) that's Cat5E (incase it matters). I'm trying to pass the internet through a wireless connection on a Vista machine though the LAN onto an XP machine. I changed the XP computers Workspace to WORKGROUP for the Vista one. Also ICS is enabled on the wireless connection, Do I also need to bridge the connections? Any other suggestions? |

| Vista Home Premium SP2 32bit / Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit | Re: Passing a connection through. Do you have an Internet connection at all with any machine and if yes how does that connect, is it through a router or what ? Have you configured the firewalls to allow both through.? Don't think I can help but I'm throwing out ideas for you to check. |

| Vista Home premium 32bit | Re: Passing a connection through. My network is shared between my family. Modem-Wireless router. Lan to first computer. Wireless to second computer. Wireless to 3rd computer (mine), Trying to pass-over the connection Via Cat5E Cross-other cable to the fourth. And yes, my computer is still able to access the computer. |

| Vista Home premium 32bit | Re: Passing a connection through. I bridged the connections instead... It seems about 14 packets got through somehow.. and now the XP machine isn't shutting up how the Local area connection is now connected. Also there wasn't any connection being passed on still. I unbridged the connections and had to reconnect to the wireless router. I just found in properties>configure>Advanced, Theres an option for "auto crossover detection", It's disabled at the moment. Would the setting be hindering or not to bother with it? Last edited by Jacobsenacc; 03-14-2009 at 03:33 PM.. Reason: Incomplete data. |
