WireLess Problem

Hello to all...I'm new here ;)
I have a BIG problem with my wireless network. I have two PC, one with vista ultimate X64 sp1 and another with both the same vista version plus XP sp3 X86 installed.
my wireless network is based on ASUS, one router (with vista support) and another WIFI adapter installed on my second PC and as you might guess my main PC is connected to the router via the standard cable. I using WPA2 with a 63 ASCII PSK and it just works well with my XP sp3 but simply when I log in to vista it can't connect to my router, Vista can find my WIFI singal and say that it has a Good-Excellent signal. I downloaded and installed the x64 version of driver for my WIFI Adapter from ASUS website and it seems it should work. I tried everything...checking password...make it shorter...reading articles about netWORKING...etc but the problem still remains
so can anyone help me please?!
Thanks in advance

Manually set your IP address, gateway, and DNS on your Vista machine and try again.

It is a common problem for Vista and wireless networks, but windows does not give very friendly messages to tell you if it is an encryption (password) issue or ip address (DHCP) issue.

But don't feel bad, windows users, the Mac is even worse in this area :)

If this doesn't help, post back.

hi Vista Hunter,
welcome to vista forums. what is the brand of your router?the options to try are as follows.
1.turn off QoS activation.
2.turn off protected mode.(protected mode and WSK?WPA2 are different)
3.reset you router to factory default including all wireless consumer products.
4.recommend calling manufacture but only in between hours of 10am-4:30pm
5.switch to WPA (version 1)
6.make sure you have the latest firmware(usually solves problems)
7.take back to shop for refund or exchange the router.
8.install DD-WRT
9.the router could be faulty or not compatible with vista(it happens)
hope this can help you.

thanks "JCPlus" and "skript kiddie". First I changed my IP Address to static IP by right clicking on my wireless card adapter and going through the IPV4 etc and still windows vista HAVE a problem... when it tries to authenticate my connection (or router) it fails! like before. I have the latest firmware and drivers installed and my router comes with "Vista Ready" sign on its package. seems I have to wait until Vista SP2 :(
I using a WL-AM604g in combination with WL-138gE PCI adapter Card.

hmmmm.....
did you reset you router and wireless consumer products to factory defaults by holding the reset button for 30seconds,or you router and adapter are not compatible with each other if i were you i would call up the manufacture and explain the wifi adapter/router is faulty and ask for a replacement.
