Wireless problem - Trying to remain calm!

Hi there

Everything works just fine on my new Vaio laptop running on Vista home premium, connecting to my wireless network TalkTalk (the router is Echolife HG520s), until the connection stops working but still says I'M CONNECTED PERFECTLY!

I thought it was a typical firewall problem so i tried with disabling Windows firewall and the mcafee security center but nothing seems to work except disabling the network hardware and enabling again...

I tried also the tip about the power battery management but doesn't help.

Please help me!

It could be a faulty router, have you tried connecting to it via cable to see if it still happens ?

thanks for your reply, yes it works fine with a cable,
forgot also to mention the wireless works fine for everybody else in the house :(

I know absolutely nothing about laptops, how long have you had this machine is it still under warranty. I'm thinking that maybe the wireless adaptor in the computer is faulty.

Sorry but I don't really know as I said I know nothing about laptops and I'm not that well up on networks either, unless it's keeping mine working then I'm not too bad :p

Have you had a look in the Tutorial section to see if you can find anything in there that may be helpful ?

thanks you joan for taking the time to reply

this is a brand new laptop and the wireless works fine... half the time
in my experience hardware are working full time or not at all so im thinking this is a software problem, but again i'm not a network expert!

I've checked a lots of tutorial and website, turn on and off everything, reinstall the wifi connection... I have simply no idea what to do now!

hey atom
welcome to vista forums!!!!;)
these are the things i did
1.update firmware
2.see if and DD-WRT avalible for your router
3.call the company there service desks are very helpful
4.check you lease time on the router its the amount of time the router is "leased" before it starts a new contract.
5.got to strart/search/mrt.exe.(do this will all other aplications are closed)
6.if its a software problem run a boot repair.
when you turm you computer on hold the F8 key or hit it 10 times real fast.
use the arrow keys to scroll down to repair my system let that run.

if nothing else works call you wireless company or laptop makers
